NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Thunder in the Mountains 200 Now Sunday Matinee with Wet Saturday Forecast at White Mountain Motorsports Park
/N. Woodstock, NH — One of the most anticipated events of the summer season has been pushed back one day to Sunday, June 29. The thrilling return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in the inaugural Thunder in the Mountains 200 will now be held on Sunday, June 29 with a 12:05pm Start Time and a 2:30pm Green Flag for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour return! Rain forecasted for Saturday has pushed both NASCAR and White Mountain officials to make the decision to postpone by just one day to Sunday, June 29.
Pit Gates will now open for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at 8:00am on Sunday morning with White Mountain divisions allowed entry beginning at 8:30am. Practice will begin at 9:45am with NWMT practice from 11:00am to 12-noon. Racing will begin promptly at 12:05pm with heat race qualifying events for the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models. Time Trials for the NWMT will begin at approximately 1:20pm and the Thunder in the Mountains 200 will begin at 2:30pm.
“The weather has been far out of our favor at White Mountain this year, and this is just the latest attack on our schedule,” said White Mountain managing partner Cris Michaud. “We wanted to get ahead of it for the traveling teams and we feel confident we can produce a much better show with Sunday’s forecast. We hope you’ll join us.”
Already a showcase of top talent and competitiveness, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has seen five different winners in their first five events with four-time champion Justin Bonsignore in familiar territory at the top of the standings. Trailing close behind him is Austin Beers, in search of his first NWMT win of the season just six points out of the money, North Wilkesboro winner Craig Lutz, Connecticut’s Stephen Kopcik and North Carolina’s Luke Baldwin. The talented early-entry list also includes the likes of ‘Big Money’ Matt Hirschman, Patrick Emerling, Eric Goodale, Woody Pitkat, Ron Silk, Jake Johnson and Jon McKennedy!
White Mountain Motorsports Park is back in action in a big way with a new Sunday matinee schedule on June 29 for the much anticipated return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour! The Thunder in the Mountains 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is the third visit of the NASCAR Regional Series to White Mountain Motorsports Park and is sure to be an instant classic!
