Wet Forecast for Saturday Pushes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to Sunday Afternoon Special at White Mountain Motorsports Park
/N. Woodstock, NH — After watching the forecast throughout the week, Officials with White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour jointly announced that the Thunder in the Mountains 200 has been moved to Sunday, July 19 due to rain forecasted for Saturday afternoon and evening.
With the move, Sunday’s schedule will begin with the Pit Gate opening at 8:00am followed by practice for the White Mountain championship divisions from 9:45am to 11:20am. From there the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will practice until 12:10pm and racing action will begin at 12:15pm.
Driver introductions and pre-race ceremonies for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Thunder in the Mountains 200 will begin at 3:00pm following racing action courtesy of the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models, The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis and the NELCAR Legends.
“While the delay is unfortunate, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour put on a great Sunday show last summer and we’re certain they’ll do it again this time around,” said WMMP managing partner Cris Michaud. “The move also allows some of our Late Model teams greater flexibility to visit Riverside Speedway on Friday with the day in between for any repairs.”
