Jake ‘The Jet’ Makes it Back to Back Monaco Wins; Youth Movement Split Late Model Doubles
/N. Woodstock, NH — With the sun thankfully shining down on the Sunday special program at White Mountain Motorsports Park, it was time to kick off the King of the Mountain track championship chase for the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models as well as the second annual visit from the Monaco Modifieds!
The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division started Sunday’s show, returning to lap five of the previously rain-delayed HK Powersports feature race from back on May 17. It was no contest with freshman runner Lucas Sidney taking off under the green flag to capture his first career win at the Mountain with a hard-charging Owen Dupuis and Gracen Gorham rounding out the top three. The Kids returned later on for their regularly scheduled event under the direction of Clayton Houghton. Houghton led steadfast until his car got out from underneath him just after the halfway marker with Lucas Sidney going two for two in Kids Division wins, this time over Gorham and Kiptyn Aldrich.
The 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models also pulled double duty on Sunday in a successful effort to finally get their track championship season off the ground. The HK Powersports feature saw Kaiden Fisher lead from the point and absolutely dominate the rain-delayed feature event with Richie Brown and Kasey Beattie following him under the checkered flags.
Feature two saw Mike Jurkowski and Jaden Perry set the pace out front with a stronghold battle between Perry and Kyle Goodbout highlighting the middle portion of their second 50-lapper of the afternoon. It all went south on lap 34 as the driveshaft in both the Richie Brown #20 and Goodbout’s #17 both vacated their hideaway homes and ended their day. On the restart, Kasey Beattie got the better of a loosely-handling Perry with Fisher following the former champion on the inside groove. The two young guns battled it out to the end with Beattie earning the win over Fisher and Perry holding on to round out the podium.
Brett Meservey got the launch on the initial green to lead the Monaco Modified Tri-Track White Mountain 100 to green, rounding out Sunday’s program. Meservey would hold his own in the #76 machine until lap 44 as he suddenly came to a stop in turn two to end his day early, gifting the lead to defending race winner Jake Johnson! The Rehoboth, Massachusetts teamster was well underway to nabbing another $10,000 win at White Mountain Motorsports Park before the lap 66 caution for Luke Baldwin’s spin in turn one with Austin Beers and ‘Big Money’ Matt Hirschman staring down his rearview mirror.
A pair of late race cautions re-racked the opposition again and again, now with Jon McKennedy and Ron Silk staring down the barrel at Johnson. Living by his nickname, Jake Johnson took off like a jet on the bottom again and again to prevail as the two-time White Mountain 100 champion in the Monaco Modifieds! Silk and McKennedy held on for second and third with Hirschman and Stephen Kopcik rounding out the top five.
Next Saturday, June 14 the hills are back alive around White Mountain Motorsports Park with the annual Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini Stock Father’s Day Special! The 50-lap main event is the longest of the year for White Mountain’s venerable four-cylinder masters alongside the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models, Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tigers, Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division and the Dwarf Cars with a 6:00pm Post Time.
