Jake Johnson Bests ACT Field in White Mountain Motorsports Park Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250!
/N. Woodstock, NH — The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour brought twenty-six quality machines to battle for 250 laps Saturday night. D.J. Shaw, the only multi-time winner of the Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250, earned the pole position with Thunder Road hot-shoe Justin Prescott to his outside. Shaw led the majority of the early goings, slowed by several single-car spins en-route to the lap 100 competition caution for fuel only.
Following the fuel stop, every car except for Prescott and Brian Hoar jumped pitside for adjustments and fresh Hoosier Racing Tires with Shaw winning the race off pit road over Jake Johnson, Gabe Brown and Stephen Martin. Prescott held the early advantage but Shaw again rocketed to the front on the return to green, fending off eight-time ACT champion Brian Hoar until once again running away on lap 109. In the meantime Jesse Switser joined the conversation out front, running side-by-side with Shaw and taking the lead on the lap 219 restart.
Switser looked to take another Milton CAT $10,000 check until his right front let go with just twelve laps remaining leaving Jake Johnson, Brandon Gray, Shaw and Kaiden Fisher to finish out the show. Jake Johnson ran away with the restart lead, keeping pace just ahead of Gray through the final twelve circuits to claim his first career Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour win in the Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250! Brandon Gray took home second with Kaiden Fisher coming home third.
Chloe Doyle and Kaden Wimble brought out the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division to kick off feature racing for the Milton CAT Midsummer Classic. The caution flag flew early as last week’s winner Maddie Potter and Khloe Goodbout made contact in turn one on lap two. Back under green, Gracen Gorham made is way to the front and never faultered to be the first repeat Kids Division winner over Wimble and Bella Hamel.
The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers were next on track under the leadership of rookie leader Chris Moulton and last year’s top freshman Todd Derrington. Derrington would pull away on the outside groove with multi-time champion Shane Sicard in tow. Moulton fought back on the bottom to lead lap 4 as AJ Sicard, Owen Cheney, Luke Peters and Cameron Ouellette freight-trained the inside groove. Peters shuffled up the inside to take the lead by lap 14. Jed Whitcomb’s spin followed by Moulton and Brendan Moodie’s dust-up in turn two brought out back-to-back cautions on lap 18. Luke Peters nailed down win number seven over Cheney and Ouellette.
Cole Robie surged with the NELCAR Legends lead in their 25-lap main event on Milton CAT Saturday but he had plenty of company. Devin Deshaies worked hard on Robie, making a mid-race pass as Brody Wakefield and Dave Stone III joined the three-wide fight at the front. Lap traffic made the final twelve laps even more thrilling with Robie and Deshaies swapping the lead and grooves again and again! Cole Robie remained triumphant over Wakefield with Deshaies rounding out the top three.
Brett ‘The Jet’ Rowell and rookie Lucas Sidney flew under the green flag to start the 25-lap main event for the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis. Rowell drove hard on the inside before growing loose on lap 8, allowing Sidney to run away with the lead as Donnie Baumgardner and Tyler Thompson drove up on the high side. Lucas Sidney motored around at the halfway point and never looked back to take his third win of the season over Baumgardner and Thompson.
White Mountain Motorsports Park is back in action next Saturday, August 8 as The Farmyard Store Flying Tigers go 100 laps in a $2,000-to-win grand finale to the Central Asphalt Paving Triple Crown! The Pro Truck Challenge also returns to White Mountain alongside the 1764 Sports Bar & Grill Late Models, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Strictly Minis, Caulder Construction Dwarf Cars and Crown Vics with a 6:00pm Post Time.
