WMMP's 5 Divisions

Threatening weather kept a bulk of the crowd away this week as racing action was hot with only one more week of points racing after tonight. Fans and drivers alike reported rain all around us but racing went on uninterupted this week. Three qualifiers were held in the NAPA Late Model division of 12 laps apiece. This first qualifier we saw Tom Smithers take third, Travis Fadden second and Bernie Langtagne first. The second qualifier we saw Jeremy Welch take third, Stacy Cahoon second and Dan Colby first. The third qualifier we had Todd Aldrich place third, Quinten Welch second and Orin Remick the win. The Semi feature event was ten laps in length and Todd Aldrich placed third, Travis Fadden second and Jeremy Welch the win. The fifty lap feature event was pretty rough with some visiting drivers here for the first or second time this year. There seemed to be quite a bit of bumping and nudging going on towards the midpack and the rear. This interupted the action as cautions flew. The point leaders made their way towards the front and with ten laps to go, Stacy Cahoon followed Quinten Welch around Dan Colby who was third and challenge Donnie Lashua for the lead. Quinten Welch took over the lead and with a caution again at lap 45, we saw Welch start on the pole and Cahoon on the inside, second row. As the final five laps played out, Dan Colby worked his way into victory lane with a third place finish. Stacy Cahoon settled for second as he just didn't have enough to challenge the leader and feature winner, Quinten Welch, who drove into victory lane proudly waving the checkered flag. With next week being the final points race, action should be awesome as these drivers battle it out for the championship.
