The next event on the WMMP schedule ranks as one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The American Canadien Tour Championship Late Model Stock Cars will be on hand June 18th to take on the White Mountain Motorsports Park NAPA Late Models in a 150 lap showdown for a qualifying spot for the Sept. 24th running of the 3rd Annual NHMS Invitational.
The home field advantage will go to drivers such as Quinny Welch, Michael Jurkowski, Stacy Cahoon, while ACT standouts Brian Hoar, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr and Jamie Fisher look to take over for the night, on the hunt for the elusive ACT chamionship. No points are involved for the WMMP NAPA Late Models.
Late Model competitors will be drawing numbers for their starting positions in the qualifying heats. From the qualifiers drivers will transfer into the +/- handicapping system used be the ACT. Basically what it translates to is that the more cars you pass in your qualifier the closer to the front you will start in the featrure event. At the same time the further back you fall through your qualifier the closer to the rear you will start the feature. With many other variables involved, it is one of the most unique scoring systems in the country today.
The challenge on the race track will be getting to the front. White Mountain Motorsports Park Is not the easiest track to navigate around and try to pass on. Many weekly drivers struggle with the outside lane, the challenge is now thrown to drivers that race in the White Mountains once a year. Step out of line and go to the front or get freight-trained to the back in a matter of laps. Sometimes something of a chess game for position, but one of the most exciting events on the calendar.
As well, the Avery's Sweeping Tiger Sportsmen, the Beacon Resort Strictly Slocks, the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly-Mini Stocks and the Lil' Ceasar's Kids Truck Division will be on hand chasing their own points championships.
For this special event, the pit gate will open at noon with practice hitting the track at 1230. The front gate will be open to the public at 2pm, with racing starting promptly at 5pm. Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children.
Don't forget about the new program for the kids we have started just this year. Each week the announcer will be pulling a child's ticket. That child and parents will then be invited into the tower to watch a feature event. When that event is over the child will be brought down onto the track and will hand out the trophies to the three winning drivers. As a "Thank-You" to the child for doing it, they will be taking home a trophy of their own! This is just one more way White Mountain Motorsports Park would like to thank the families that come out in support of our racing program every week. We look forward to seeing you soon!!
We are very easy to find in the heart of the White Mountains, in Woodstock, NH. We are two miles south of N. Woodstock village on route 3 and three miles north of exit 30 off Interstate 93. We are a family friendly facility with no alcohol being allowed on the grounds at any time, and the grandstands split evenly into smoking and non-smoking sections. Again, we look forward to seeing you, if not next week, then sometime over the 2011 season.
