North Woodstock, NH- On a warm summers night, the racing got heated and frantic as Welch,Bourne, Sinclair, Oliver and visiting McKinstry all took top honors in the White Mountain Motorsports Park victory lane. Made even better by the return of the North East Mini Stock Tour.
Qualifiers were won by Logan Oliver in the HK Powersports Kids Trucks, Brandon Bourne in the Beacon Motel Strictly Stocks, Brockton Davis, Quinny Welch and Jeremy Welch all in the NAPA Late Models, with the semi-feature going to Quinny Welch. The qualifiers for the visiting NEMST went to Ricky Porter and Loren Smith.
In the NAPA Late Models it was all Quinny Welch. With the field regrouped twice due to spins on laps 9 and 23, the Lancaster, NH native took to the outside lane and went around Norm Andrews on lap 24 and into the lead. Taking chase the whole way was Tyler Cahoon, who didn't have the luck gettting around traffic that Welch did. By the time Cahoon was able to break free of traffic Welch had a full straightaway lead. By lap 35 Welch was deep in lapped traffic, with no more cautions to regroup the field Cahoon didn't have the muster to catch Welch as he went on to the win. Third place went to the hard-charging Travis Fadden from N. Haverhill, NH. The points chase for the NAPA Late Models remains as tight as it has been all season long with less than ten points between Welch and Cahoon.
In the Beacon Resort Strictly Streets the racing was tight from the start with the points leaders trying to break out of the pack. In the end it was Brandon Bourne fighting off a hard-charging Alex Kelly and Elwin Sidney III. Bourne started near the front and stepped out to a comfortable lead when Kelly and Sidney broke free from the pack and took chase. Bourne came home with the win, Kelly in second, and Sidney in third.
The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Minis put on an outstanding display of racing with plenty of passing and jostling for position from front to back. Eventual winner Shawn Sinclair had his hands full of Nick Pillotte and Kyle Willis when the checkers flew. Willis, the early leader was rooted up out of the low groove mid-way through the event and was passed by winner Sinclair and second place finisher Pillotte.
The HK Powersports Kids Trucks saw plenty of action themselves with a couple of spins and a few close calls. Logan Oliver came out on top in the feature after a couple of spins in his qualifier and in practice. He got the handle on it for the main event though and held off Lucas Wheeler and Michael Lloyd for the win. All three had impressive runs in the main event working their way through traffic in careful and calculated fashion.
The visiting North East Mini Stock Tour put on quite a show in their 50 lap feature which was slowed by three caution flags for minor spins. Chris McKinstry started dead last on the field and worked his way solidly to the front over the course of the first half of the race. Second place Tim Collins and third place finisher Dylan Lancaster fought for position at the front the whole way but could not hold back a fantastic run by McKinstry.
