Cool weather and dark clouds greeted race fans for the first weekend at White Mountain Motorsports. A new division was added to replace the Shuttle Connection Super Streets. The Avery Sweeping Tiger Division saw six cars on opening day. We certainly hope for more in the coming weeks. Twenty four NAPA Late Models showed up for the car show, a strong showing for sure. We had twelve kids trucks the first day with only four being veteran drivers.
The NAPA Late Model car show winners were Oren Remick in third, Dan Colby taking second and Tim Churchill winning the 2010 Car Show. Tim Churchill moves up from the Super Street division of last year where he won the division championship.
The Avery Sweeping Tiger Division had a slim showing for its first week. Coming in third for the car show was Tim Potter, Second Place went to Tony Rossi. Both drivers are new to WMMP but not new to this division. Winning the division was Gerald "Thump" Griswold.
The Beacon Resort Strictly Streets had a fair showing with eleven cars on opening day. Taking third was David Baron Sr., Second place in the car show was awarded to Wade Willis and Gordon Day took the win.
The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini Division saw eight entries for the car show. Third place was awarded to a new driver, Eric Boucher. Second place went to returning driver Nick Pilotte and first went to Kyle Willis.
We had only four veteran drivers return to the HK Powersports Kid Truck Division. Eight rookies added to the field giving Danny Walker plenty to do each week. Danny takes the time to guide these young drivers and give them pointers to assist them in learning how to drive and eventually, how to race. Coming in third in the car show was Lucas Wheeler. Second place went to a new driver, Michael Lloyd and first place went to Nick Willis.
As race season is now upon us we want to let our fans know that we have a need for help in the kitchens. We have one in the pits and another behind the grandstands. Older teens are able to help at the counter but we really could use a couple of cooks. The age requirement is 18 years of age, no experience necessary. If you are interested, please give the track a call at 745-6727 and leave your name, phone number and the position you are requesting. Someone WILL get back in touch with you.
Next week we are excited to bring back the Pro All Star Series. PASS racing is always a crowd favorite. The Pit Gate opens at 10:00, the Main Gate at 11:00, practice begins at 12 noon and racing is set to begin at 4:00 pm sharp. Due to the fact we live in northern NH, please be prepared for everything from frigid temperatures to bright sunshine with temps in the 80's. Ear protection is something you should consider for the little fans. WMMP is located in Woodstock NH on Rt.3, approximately 3 miles north of Exit 30 off I-93 or 2 miles south of N.Woodstock Village. We look forward to seeing you all next week for our first point race of the season!
