Welcome back to "THUNDER IN THE MOUNTAINS" as W.M.M.P celebrated its opening weekend with a car show and practice session. Plenty of drivers returned to make this a promising season and some new drivers beginning in our kids truck division. We have a couple of drivers who have been absent for a couple of years that have made their way back home, like Glenn Martel who you might recall was the track champion in 1994 and again in '04. Opie Thayer drives the the #4 in the mini's and he was track champion in 1996 and also '04.
Each driver making it to our car show was awarded 50 points and the top three from each division earned themselves a trophy and bragging rights for the season. In the N.A.P.A. Late Models we had the 33 of Norm Andrews in third, second was the 02 of Russ Clark and taking first place was Bernie Lantagne with his #3 car. So far we have 27 entries in the late model division, a welcome sight for everyone here and we are hopeful that there may be more to come.
Twelve drivers have signed up for the Shuttle Connection Super Street Division thus far and taking third in the car show was #16 Craig Roy. Second place was the 66 of Tim Churchill and winning the car show was the 57 of Chandler Davis. With any luck we will add to the list of drivers in the next couple of weeks in this division.
Twelve drivers have also signed up so far for the Beacon Motel Strictly Stock division. Taking third in the car show was the #28 of David Baron Sr., second place went to former truck driver Gordon Day in his 47 car and taking the win sporting a new color scheme was Steve Parker with his 09 car.
The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini division has a total of 10 drivers so far. Taking third in the car show was the 4 car of Opie Thayer. The 14 of Nick Pilotte was the second place winner and the 71 of Rubin Call won first place in this division.
Ten drivers have entered the HK POWERSPORTS kids truck division this year so far. Returning driver Connor McDougal sporting a new 88 took third. Two new drivers this year placed second and first with second going to #3 Allmon Evans. First place was won by Nickolas Willis in his #43 truck. Congratulations to all the drivers who placed in each division and welcome back to everybody.
White Mountain Motorsports Park extends our sympathies to the family and friends of Maggie Baron, mother of David Baron Sr., who recently left us to go home to the Lord after a long struggle with health issues. Our thoughts and our prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Next week we have an early start up time of 4:00 pm with PASS coming to W.M.M.P. We will feature the Pro All Star Series along with all five W.M.M.P. divisions for an action packed night of racing.
