North Woodstock, New Hampshire – After a couple of weeks of awesome weather for racing, Mother Nature rained out a big night at White Mountain Motorsports Park, North Woodstock, New Hampshire. All five WMMP divisions were to be in action along with the ACT Tiger Sportsman Series running a 100-lap feature. Rain was in the forecast all last week leading up to Saturday Night. During the morning hours on Saturday, just like the weather man predicted, rain showers moved into the area and WMMP Management made the tough call and closed the park for the evening.
As we move into the late summer race season, the points battles are heating up. Stacy Cahoon leads the Napa Late Models with 639 points. Cahoon is followed by Quinny Welch with 590 points, Marc Belanger with 578, Rick Thompson Jr. with 550, and Pete Potvin III with 500 points only 139 out of the top spot.
The Gilmour Jeep Ford Dodge Super Street Division has a pretty tight cluster of drivers fighting for the top spot as well. Brockton Davis sits on the top with 585 points. Craig Roy is in second place right now at 581 only 4 points back. Howard Switser is in third with 547, Doug Laleme in fourth with 543, and Matthew LeBlanc with 542. Only 43 points separate 1st though 5th.
Jeff Marshall will take his lead in the Beacon Motel and Resort Strictly Streets to next Saturday Night and fight off a group of hard chargers all battling for the top spot. Marshall has 552 points. Tom Smithers cruises into second with 500 points, Shane Sicard is in third with 478, Tom Keith in fourth with 474, and Jeremy Davis in fifth with 467. There is only a 85 point separation in the top five spots.
The always hot Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini Division is living up to it’s name late in the 2005 race season with Jason Welch leading the division with 617 points. Jerrad Ledger sits in the number two spot with 577. Dan Curren currently holds third with 561 points, Michael Richards Jr. in fourth with 547, and Opie Thayer in fifth with 515 points. In the top five spots there is only a 102-point difference.
White Mountain Motorsports Park will resume racing this Saturday Night, August 27th with a special start time of 5pm. The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Tiger Sportsman Series invades the high-banked oval for a 100-lap feature. All five WMMP divisions will also be inaction.
