Great turnout for a first time practice at the Park! 30 cars arrived throughout the afternoon and took advantage of the opportunity to turn the first laps of the season. While some cars went flawlessly, other had issues ranging from engine misfires to losing a driveshaft.
In the Late Models, Katrina Canney was fast out of the box. Ryan Olson was there in his new ride and Todd Aldrich caught the last two practices. Bernie Lantagne had an early issue that resulted in a loss of brake parts on the track.
As for the Strictlys, The Sicard/Driscoll crew was there in force and if anyone thinks that the #84 isn't ready for a championship run in the strictlys they are in for a wake up call, he was sick fast in the outside groove. Tom Keith lost a driveshaft in the first practice Due to a diligent crew, was able to retrieve a spare from home, replace it, and make the last 2 practices.
A few of the Dwarf cars have some of the most outlandish paint schemes that the fans are going to absolutely love. The judges for the car show will have their work cut out for them. Even with only 3 on the track at a time, they were entertaining to watch and had the spectators buzzing about what we will see this season.
A few minis had some mechanical problems and had to leave early. Ray Eames tested his backup car showing how serious he is about contending for the championship this year. Dave Driscoll and Desirae Sicard were in mid-season form so they didn't feel the need to take advantage of the final practice.
The Tigers will be fun to watch on the Goodyear slicks. Jason Fallman, a division rookie, was interviewed immediately after his first time on the track. With a big smile, he used one word to sum it up- FUN!
Next week is the car show starting at 10:30 AM. The cars will be on display from 12:00 to 1:30 immediately followed by practice from 1:30 to 4:30.
