The weather was questionable early on with a couple of passing showers at White Mountain Motorsports Park. Clouds were slow to break but clearing skies prevailed and a full night of racing was enjoyed by all those in attendance tonight. Last week's two red flag events putting two cars into the pits brought concern for those returning tonight for another night of racing. Returning with the 73 car was Cody Bodwell after paying a visit to the trees behind the pits last week. The car looked good and won a qualifing event in the Late Model division. The 49 of Matt Anderson failed to return to the track this week after peeling back the entire right side of his car with a mishap coming off turn 4 landing him against the wall down along the home stretch. We hope to see the Matt return next week for the Late Model qualifier and feature.
Tonight's fifty lap feature was well grouped early on. The #73 of Cody Bodwell led for the first half of the race with Norm Andrews right behind him in the #33. With a caution and a restart, we saw the #33 take the lead and the #6 of Brett Clairmont and the #73 of Cody Bodwell along with the #78 of Quinten Welch all battling for the top four positions. It was a tight finish with a spectacular checkered flag win going to #33 of Norm Andrews who wins the first triple crown of the year. Finishing second was the #6 of Brett Clairmont and third goes to Cody Bodwell in the #73. A great job of racing by all the drivers tonight.
The Shuttle Connection Super Streets was a thirty lap event that saw the #26 of Dan Curran lead for a while, then at the restart after a caution the crowd saw the pack realign and the #66 of Tim Churchill faught his way to the lead to pull away from the pack. Battling for second and coming out the victor was the #16 of Craig Roy and having to settle for third was Dan Curran in the #26. A great job of racing in the Super Streets.
The Beacon Resort Strictly Streets feature was a 25 lap event that saw the #6 of Alex Kelley fight his way from the back to place himself in the top three during the last five laps of the race. The #09 of Steve Parker was battling for the lead with Tom Keith in the #63. Alex Kelley saw the opportunity and took it, nearly causing the #09 of Steve Parker to lose control. Alex Kelley in the #6 then was poised to fight for the lead, only to run out of time. Winning the Strictly Street Feature was the #63 of Tom Keith, placing second was the #6 of Alex Kelley and having to settle for third tonight was #09 of Steve Parker.
The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini's had a twenty lap feature that saw the #14 of Nick Pilotte start in the pole position and lead for the first half of the race. Working his way from the rear to the front was the #71 of Rubin Call. Rubin did well making his way through the field and having to contend with the #4 of Opie Thayer. Thayer was a top three contender but did not have enough to snag the lead. When all was said and done, Nick Pilotte had to settle for third tonight in the #14. Opie Thayer, returning to the track after a three year absence, happily took second with the #4. The feature win goes to the #71 racing team driven by Rubin Call. Congratulations were passed around to all the drivers placing in the top three by each other tonight.
The HK POWERSPORTS Kids Truck Division was wraught with caution after caution. The announcing for the qualifiers and feature tonight provided by the track announcer's daughter Tristan MacDonald who assists her father each week in the announcer's booth. Trying her hand with the mike tonight and showing she has what it takes and making her father proud, Tristan announced her way through caution after caution. Even though this feature was only 15 laps, I firmly believe the Super Streets ended quicker then the truck division. Walking away with the win was the #31 of Brandon Bourne, taking second was the #97 of Alex Rooney and placing third was the #88 of Conner McDougal. Good job to these young drivers who come here each week and attempt to improve upon their driving skills.
