It was win number four for Mother Nature this past Saturday at the famed quarter mile in North Woodstock. As forecast, the winds and rain appeared late afternoon cancelling all racing for the weekend.
The PASS Super Late Models were ready for their 150 lap event and it has now been rescheduled for Saturday September 22nd on Championship night at White Mountain Motorsports Park beginning at 5 PM. The PASS North Super Late Model points’ battle is unsettled and it may be the tightest race seen in years. Top runners will be looking for a solid finish to push them towards their championship.
Saturday’s cancellation leaves just two point racing events for the WMMP regulars for 2012. All four points accumulating division championships are up for grabs, placing a great amount of pressure on the racers and their teams.
In the Shuttle Connection Late Models, Brock Davis (719) holds a 14 point edge over second place man Quinney Welch (705). Third place is dead even between veteran Stacy Cahoon and young gun Travis Fadden (685), and still in the hunt is fifth place Oren Remick (671).
Gerald Griswold has been a picture of consistency and leads the Avery Sweeping Tiger division with (715) points. Barre Vermont’s George May has four feature wins in 2012 and is lurking in the runner-up position for his chance to be the top dog sitting a mere 20 points behind Griswold at (695). The remaining top five include 2011 champion, Jeff Huntington (679), Stephen Denio (659), and rookie Ryan Oleson (647).
The Beacon Resort Strictly Stocks have a new points leader in the name of youngster Chandler Potter at (675) points. Another youngster, Marshfield Vermont’s Lucas Wheeler, has moved into the second spot at (666) points. The Sicard brothers are still within striking distance with Shane at (658) points and Jody at (641) markers. Three time feature winner Tom Keith is fifth at (613) points.
The Woodsville Guarantee Savings Bank Strictly Mini division has four drivers battling for championship honors. 71 year old Dave Driscoll leads the way at (624) points. Another veteran, Craig Willis sits just five points behind at (619) points. Danville’s Lisa Hodgdon (617), Bath’s Jason Fallman (605), and Desirae Sicard (576), round out the division’s top five point leaders.
This Saturday night September 15th, the boys are back in town. That’s right the very popular Dwarf car division will be making its fourth and final appearance in 2012. The lightning fast opened wheeled racers have delighted the WMMP crowds and look to have another full field this Saturday night. In 2013, WMMP will be a new home for the Dwarf Car division.
Also on the card will be the Lil Ceasers’ Pizza Kids Truck division and the front wheel drive kids division, making it a spectacular night of racing for seven different classes in competition beginning at 6 PM.
