NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH - The Fall Jamboree at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire brought out a great field of competitors to wrap-up the 2004 racing season. Winners for the day were Glen Martel in the Late Models, Fulton Mountain in the Super Streets, Jay Coulter in the Strictly Streets, and Opie Thayer in the Strictly Minis.
The first feature of the afternoon was a 35-lap feature for the Strictly Stock Minis. The monstrous four cylinders took to the track for a great race. The WMMP 2004 Strictly Stock Mini Champion, Opie Thayer of Concord, New Hampshire, was victorious one more time for the 2004 season. Thayer started toward the back of the pack and carefully worked his way up to the top position though out the feature. Kyle Tatro of Hyde Park, Vermont and Josh Santy of Gilman, Vermont chased Thayer to the finish in second and third. Raymond Eames of Berlin, New Hampshire and Tom Smithers of Gilmanton, New Hampshire finished fourth and fifth.
The Strictly Stocks 50-lap feature went to Jay Coulter of Salem, New Hampshire. Coulter got up to the front early in the feature and was unstoppable. Lew Fortin of Benwick, Maine came in second and WMMP regular Tom Keith of Pike, New Hampshire ended in third place. Pete Evens from Berwick, Maine and Mike Douglas Jr. of Auburn, Maine rounded out the top five.
Barrington, New Hampshire’s Fulton Mountain, who is no stranger to the WMMP high banks comes home with the victory in the Super Street 75-lap feature. Mountain originally finished in second behind Michael Landry of Oakland, Maine, but after going though post race technical inspection, Landry was disqualified giving the victory to Fulton Mountain. Wayne Whitten Jr. of Arundel, Maine moves up to a second place finish, Tim Churchill of Lincoln, New Hampshire in third, Chuck Dehney of Lowell, Massachusetts in fourth, and Center Barnstead , New Hampshire’s Mark “Sparky” MacIver finished in fifth place.
And no WMMP Fall Jamboree would be complete without the Late Models hitting 1/3 mile oval for a 100-lap feature. It was a ferocious battle to the end. David Avery got to the front early and led a good number of laps. Avery wasn’t the only leader, Joey LaQuerre of East Montpelier, Vermont led for some time along with Mike Buzzi of Barrie, Vermont and WMMP regular, Glenn Martel of Gilmanton, New Hampshire. Martel led the field of drivers across the finish line to capture the checkered flap. Mike Gosselin of Derby, Vermont drove down to the line in second, Joey LaQuerre in third, Dennis Phelps of Laconia, New Hampshire in fourth, and Brian Mason of Stark, New Hampshire in fifth.
