A picture perfect day brought out a near capacity crowd to watch a great night of racing at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. The A.C.T. Tour joined the WMMP regular divisions on Country Pools, Spas and Billiards night. Winners on the evening included Jean-Paul Cyr in the A.C.T. race, Glenn Martel, Oren Remick, Jason Wyman and Tom Smithers.
Milton, Vermont's, Jean-Paul Cyr took over the lead just past the half way point and never looked back, as he rolled to his second win of the season. St. Denis, Quebec's, Patrick Laperle was closing at the end, but ran out of time and settled for second. East Montpelier's, Vermont's, Joey Laquerre, Jamie Fisher and Todd Stone completed the top five. These results are unofficial, pending results of the post race inspection.
The NAPA Late Models had a 75 lap main on their plate for the night, as the New England Dodge Dealers sponsored this extra distance event. Glenn Martel drove the high lane to perfection on Saturday night as he took his car to the front and easily outdistanced the rest of the field. Even a pair of restarts late in the race could not stop the Belmont native from grabbing the win. Laconia's, Dennis Phelps, and East Montpelier, Vermont's, Joey Laquerre placed second and third. Kendell Legendre and Stacy Cahoon rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Mike Gosselin, Bryan Mason and Martel, while Stacy Cahoon grabbed the semi-feature checkers.
It was a tough night for the Gilmour Jeep / Ford / Dodge Super Streets, as several cars left the race on the back end of the wrecker. Seven cautions dotted the 30 lap main event that was totally dominated by Warner's, "Floorin'" Oren Remick. Remick jumped into the lead at the drop of the green and nobody could touch him. North Haverhill's, Rick Fadden had a career best second place finish, and Alfred, Maine's, Dave Langlais rolled home third. Daryl Smith and Richard Paradis placed 4th and 5th. Qualifying checkers flew for Remick, Tim Churchill and Brockton Davis.
Woodsville's, Jason Wyman rolled to an impressive victory in the Beacon Motel and Resorts Strictly Street's as Tamworth's, Kim Cotten and West Burke, Vermont's, Steve Parker chased him to the stripe. Toby Peters and Gary Griswold II raced home 4th and 5th. Preliminary events went to Jody Sicard and Parker.
The Woodsville Guaranty savings Bank Strictly Mini's saw some great side by side action as Gilmanton's,Tom Smithers and Lyndonville, Vermont's, Brady Therrien went eight laps door handle to door handle before contact knocked Therrien wide in turn three. A caution on lap 18, set up a green, white, checkers finish and Smithers held on for the win. Therrien settled for second, and Concord's, Opie Thayer made a late race charge to come home third edging out teammate Mike Richards Jr.. Point leader, Dan Curren finished up the top five. Ernest Snyder, Skip Elliott and Les Washburn scored qualifying round wins.
Racing resumes this Saturday night as all five divisions will see action and the Gilmour Jeep / Ford / Dodge Super Streets will run a 50 lap main event. Gates open at 2pm, practice starts at 4pm and the first green flag flies at 6pm.
