With a chill in the air to remind us of what lies ahead of us, the racing was as hot as it has been all summer long at White Mountain Motorsports Park. With alot to be settled and just as much on the line, many points battles have yet to be settled, especially with next week being the final points race for the NAPA Late Model Sportsmen as they will not be running the final week of competition.
Qualifying got under way with the Little Ceasar's Kid's Truck Division where the win went to the #4 of Brandon Croteau Of Irasburg, Vt. Next out were the Avery's Sweeping Tiger Sportsmen in their qualifier the win went to Brian Gosselin from Bethlehem, NH. The next division to take to the N. Woodstock highbanks was the NAPA Late Model Sportsmen. Qualifier number one went to the #21 Oren Remick from Warner, NH, while qualifier number two went to Campton NH's own Will Avery. In the Beacon Resort Strictly Stock Division it was the car #21 of Lucas Wheeler out of Bradford, VT with the win. While the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini-Stock division it was all Alyssa Welch as she went wire to wire with her #2. The win in the semi-feature for the NAPA Late Model Sportsmen went to Oren Remick in the #21, once again setting him up for the coveted triple crown win.
In the fifteen lap feature for the Little Ceasar's Kids Truck Division there wasn't anybody willing to give up anything to anybody the whole race. Michael Lloyd in the #22 took the early lead, but could never quite pull away from the melee behind him as Ryan Olsen, Chandler Potter, Amanda Wheeler and Logan Oliver were battling it out for second position on back. In the mid stages of the race Amanda Wheeler took her #20 truck topside and went to work getting around traffic. By lap eleven she had the lead. The battle for second and third went all the way to the line as Wheeler stayed just enough ahead of the pack to hold onto the win. Second went to Michael Lloyd in the #22 truck, while third went to the #61 of Ryan Olsen.
The Beacon Resort Strictly Stock Division were next out onto the highbanks for their twenty-five lap feature event. From the drop of the green flag it was all Brandon Albee in the #16. From the start Albee punched a hole in the wind and set sail to distance himself from the rest of the pack. Behind him the battle raged between Jody Sicard, Lucas Wheeler and Elwin Sydney. The three swapped positions the whole race each not getting very far in doing so as they remained under a blanket for twenty-five laps. The winner was Brandon Albee in the #16, followed to the line by Jody Sicard in the #49 and in third was Elwin Sidney.
Next out onto the racing surface was the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini-Stock Division. At the drop of the green flag it was Alyssa Welch with the early lead and walking away from the pack. Second place swapped back and forth between Lisa Hodgdon, Kyle Willis and Travis Dickerson. All the while behind them Jason Fallman was going to work. It took fallman a while to get around Willis, then he had his hands full of Hodgdon, but eventually Fallman broke free into second place and took off down the backstretch after Welch. On lap fourteen he ran her down and took the lead after driving it in deep into turn three to get a good run off turn four. When the checkers came out it was Jason Fallman in the #21 with the win, Alyssa Welch in the #2 in second and rounding out the top three was Lisa Hodgdon in the #0.
The Avery's Sweeping Tiger Sportsmen rolled out of the pits in turn four ready for their twenty-five lap main event. Getting the jump at the flag was the #11 of Brian Gosselin. While Gosselin was looking for distance between himself and the rest of the field Michael Moore in the #6 fell into second place, while points leader Jeff Huntington worked to sort things out and head towards the fron. Timmy Churchill in the #66 was coming to the front in a hurry. By lap five he was working over Michael Moore for second. Churchill was all over Moore every lap until he finally punched a hole down low and drove his car into it to take the second spot. The only caution flew when the #90 of Sean Akers went around off the front bumper of Jeff Huntington on lap eighteen. The green flag flew again and with seven laps to go the racing was furious. At the line it was the #66 of Tim Churchill with the win, the #68 of Dan Colby in second with Jeff Huntington in the #24 holding onto his points lead.
With the points championship on the line, the NAPA Late Model Sportsmen rolled onto the racing grid out of turn four. When the green flag flew it was the #92 of Will Avery taking off from his pole starting position. The outside lane drifted backwards, leaving the inside line a clear shot to move forward. One of the first to move up was the #16 of Travis Fadden, who brought with him Stacy Cahoon, while points leader Quinny Welch was temorarily stuck waiting in the back of the pack for traffic to clear ahead of him. By lap twent-five, Fadden had caught Avery at the front of the field and passed him for the lead. Then the caution flag flew on lap twenty-seven as the #73 of Charlie Bodwell threw a tire in turn four. The green flag flew only to come out again as the #38 of Tyler Cahoon, Avery and Bodwell got together coming off turn number two. From there it went green to the finish as Welch caught Fadden and went after the lead on a number of occasion. All failed as the youngster held the verteran at bay for the remainder of the race. When the green flag flew it was the #16 Travis Fadden with the win, Quinny Welch in the #78 in third, with the #56 of Derrick O'Donnell rounding out the top three.
