With only two night of racing left, drivers prepared for a battle for the championship here tonight at White Mountain Motorsports park. Donnie and Teri Avery welcomed the Pro All Star Series this week with the D-J equipment 150. Three qualifiers brought 25 racers to the feature. In the first qualifier DJ Shaw came in third, Trevor Sanborn second and Ben Rowe first. In the second qualifier, Rich Eaton took third, Jeremy Davis second and Johnny Clark first. In the final qualifier, Mike Lavoie was third, Scott King second and Travis Kittleson first. During the feature race spectators saw teammates Ben Rowe and Trevor Sanborn battle for position early on back in fifth with Travis Kittleson, DJ Shaw and Johnny Clark set the pace. With very few cautions, action was swift as the lead cars began to lap the slower racers. It was not long before the #4 of Ben Rowe found himself sliding into third place where he was able to finish for the night. Not where he had hoped to be, he credited the Avery family for having a great track which he noted was one of his favorites. Maintaining his place in the top three was the #54 of Johnny Clark who pulled off a second place for the night. He credited his crew for getting the #54 car into victory lane and he too wished he had finished better but was happy with second. The surprise victor tonight was the #60 driven by DJ Shaw. The young Shaw did an awesome job here at WMMP, pulling off a first place win. Congrats to Shaw and his racing team for their victory.
The NAPA Auto Parts Late Model feature was one for the record books. Going into tonights race we saw Stacy Cahoon as the points leader. He had his hands full starting in the back of the pack. Also in the race for the points championship was the #78 of Quinten Welch and the #60 of Dan Colby. From the beginning of the race, the contender for the lead was the #7 of Ben Lynch. Stacy Cahoon also made his way from the rear to second and on a restart, started side by side with Lynch. Cahoon took over the lead and the rest is history. Having a great night with the #17 car was Todd Aldrich who captured third. Ben Lynch had to settle for second and point leader Stacy Cahoon walked away with the win. This propels the #83 racing team into the lead for the championship.
The Shuttle Connection Super Streets literally were "smoking hot tonight". As the top five cars finished out the final laps, smoke could clearly be seen coming off the tires as they came into the homestretch. Last year's track champion worked his way into third place for the night. Craig Roy thanked his team for their dedication to working on solving his problems week after week and for getting him to where they were tonight. Coming in second was the #6 racing team with Adam Delucca at the helm. He too needed this great finish to help him and and team compete for the championship. Taking the lead and the win tonight was another former track champion who returned to WMMP after a couple of years off. Tim Churchill slid into the lead and set the pace 'till the finish.
The Beacon Resort Strictly Streets proved just as exciting. These drivers worked hard for every inch of every yard they gained during this feature. With a visiting driver being DQ'd from the top three, the #09 of Steve Parker was awarded a third place finish for the night. Coming in second with his #17 car was Travis Fadden. Winning for the night and boosting his chances of capturing the championship was the #28 of David Baron Sr.
In the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini division we saw driver Dustin Jackson take third with a visiting driver being DQ'd out of position. Coming in second was Mike Richards Jr. with his #4 and taking the feature was the #14 of Nick Pilotte. All three drivers are in the race for the championship. Next week should prove interesting in this division.
We held two features for the HK Powersports Kids Truck division. In the first feature we saw driver Geoffry Pickering take third, Connor McDougal took second and Alex Rooney set the pace with a feature win. In the second feature we saw Christopher Pelkey take third. He announced that he was entering the tiger division at Thunder Road after tonight. We wish Christopher all the best with his racing future. Coming in second was Kyle Willis with the #43 truck and winning the second feature was Gordon Day in his #47 truck.
Next week is WMMP final week. This is the last points race for all five divisions so come out and cheer on your favorite drivers as they compete for the championship. The race is scheduled to begin promptly at five o'clock. WMMP is located on Rt.3, two miles south of N.Woodstock and three miles north on Rt.3 from exit 30 off I-93.
