North Woodstock, New Hampshire – After being rained out last week it was time to get back to racing and in a big way. In front of another large crowd at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire, the Late Models, Super Streets, Strictly Stocks, and the Strictly Minis all put on great shows. The Kids Trucks had the night off. The True Value Modified Racing Series was also in town for a 100-lap green flag race, which was incredible. The night saw Marc Belanger, Rich Paradis, Gary Griswold II, Dan Curren, and Kirk Alexander all big winners in the Peabody and Smith Reality Winners Circle.
The night began with a makeup feature for the Gilmour Jeep Ford Dodge Super Streets. Last week the Super Streets got both of their qualifying heats in before the rain. This week they kicked off the night with a great show. Scott Vien, who moved up to the Super Street Division this year, brought home his first checkered flag of the 2005 Season. Craig Roy, Tim Casey, Arnold Stygles, and Ken Marier chased Vien down to the line.
The Napa Late Model Division saw some new faces in victory lane. Donna Cahoon of St. Johnsbury, VT grabbed her first checkered flag of the 2005 Season in the first qualifier. Richie Bean of Bradford, VT started off the night on fire. Bean won the second qualifier and then again in the semi-feature. Marc Belanger of Whitefield, NH also took home two checkered flags, once in the third qualifier and then again during feature time. During the 35-lap feature for the Napa Late Models, Quinny Welch of Dalton, NH came up from the back of the pack to take second place, and Joey Pole came in third. Stacy Cahoon, who won two weeks ago, drove into fourth followed by Pet Potvin III in fifth.
The Gilmour Jeep Ford Dodge Super Streets came out for their second feature of the evening, a 30-lap feature. Rich Paradis of Littleton, NH got to the front of the pack and lead the field to victory. Paradis finished with some hard chargers in his rear view mirror. Doug Laleme of Littleton, NH, who won two weeks ago, came in second. Pittsfeild, NH’s Tim Casey finished third. Bernie Langtange came in fourth and Brockton Davis rounded out the top five.
Gary Griswold II of Bath, NH dominated in the Beacon Motel and Resort Strictly Stock Division. Griswold started the night with a win in the first qualifier and then a repeat performance in the 20-lap feature. Patrick Burt of Lunnenburg, VT, who moved up this year from the Kids Trucks Division, also had a great night. Burt finished in second in both in his qualifying heat and the feature. Jason Rogers came in third, Ricky Stygles in fourth, and Karen Bixby in fifth.
The night was full of repeat performances with Dan Curren of Danbury, NH pulling off one in the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini Division. Curren dominated in his qualifing heat and then again in the feature. During the 20-lap feature he was chased to the line by the points leader, Jonathan Ledger. Opie Thayer, who has been having a ruff start to the season, was able to get things dialed in and grab a third place finish. Jarred Ledger came in fourth and Jason Welch in fifth.
The True Value Modified Racing Series was in town for their first appearance of the 2005 season to compete in the New England Dodge Dealers 100. From start to finish fans were on the edge of their seats with Kirk Alexander, who started in 14th coming home with the checkered flag. Second place went to Louie Mechalides, who started at the back of the pack. Jack Bateman raced his way into third place followed by Peter Daniels in fourth and James Kuhn Jr. in fifth.
Fans are in for a treat this Saturday Night with a huge night of racing at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. The New England Dodge Dealers will be presenting a 100-lap race for the Napa Late Models with the biggest purse of the 2005 Season. Over $5,000 in price money will be on the line. Due to the rain out last week, the Beacon Motel and Resort Strictly Stocks and the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Minis will be running 40-lap features with double purses and points for those that were signed in to race last week.
