DONAHUE EDGES WELCH IN WMMP THRILLER
Great racing, awesome weather and a large gathering of race fans highlighted the racing activity Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park powered by the Autosaver Group. After a two week layoff due to bad weather, the drivers were all extremely excited to get back on the track and they put on some seriously exciting racing. Winners included Stephen Donahue, Shane Sicard, Nate Walton, and Tyler Thompson.

Quinney Welch jumped out to a huge early lead in the Foley Oil and Propane Late Models, but Stephen Donahue was reeling him in before the caution flag flew for Richie Brown who spun in turn four bringing out caution number two on the night on lap 39. Donahue got the jump on the restart and looked strong before the caution waved again on lap 43 for a hard crash into the first turn wall by Jeremy Welch. The race was red flagged as officials checked on Welch. He was a little dazed but was okay. The race resumed with Welch getting the jump and the lead until the final caution flew for a spinning Scott Corey on lap 45. The pair battle side by side until lap 48 when Donahue slipped into the lead and onto the checkers. Donahue was followed by Quinney Welch, Paul Newcomb, Oren Remick and Stacy Cahoon. Heat checkers flew for Donahue and Newcomb, while Richie Brown won the bonus point semi-feature.

Shane Sicard led all 30 laps of the Wells River Chevrolet Tiger Sportsman main event as no one could touch him the entire distance. Justin Eldridge, Steve Heitz, Kaleb Rogers and Todd Colpitts completed the top five. Sicard also won the lone qualifier.

Nate Walton held off a determined challenge by John Knight to grab his first win of 2018 in the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini's. Knight pulled even with three laps to go and the pair raced side by side to the finish with Walton carrying the checkered flag. Knight, was followed to the stripe by Keri Sicard, Adam Sicard and Dustin Jackson. Walton and Keri Sicard captured qualifying victories.

Tyler Thompson made it two for two in the Dad's 4 By Tool and Supply Kids Truck division. Owen Boucher made a valiant effort to catch the winner but time ran out and he settled for a solid second place finish. Luke Peters, Owen Rogers and Jillian Baumgardner rounded out the top five. Thompson also was the heat winner.

Wayne Wojyna, Billy Kemp and Angie Bullock were the top three in the visiting New England Antique Racer (NEAR) main event.

White Mountain Motorsports Park powered by the Autosaver Group will be back in action next Saturday night, June 9th at 6pm as they celebrate the first giant event of 2018.
